Breed description:
The Safi is a pigeon with very fine features. It
has a small round head, large eyes, very thin and round eye ceres, a short and thick beak,
short legs, a long tail and a gracile body. This bird measures in excess of 30 cm, weighs
less than 350 grams and carries its wings above its tail.
The Safis have been divided into 2 groups
according to their color.
Light colored Safis have pearl or burgundy
(ruby) eyes. This group consists of the following:
- The Seeny has a white body with blue
and gray specks in the neck and chest area, white toenails, a white beak and pearl eyes.
- The Mezarzar Seeny almost identical
to the Seeny except for the blue bar markings on the wings.
- The Abou Rakaba Khadra
has a white body with a shiny "green like" neck and chest area. The beak
is white, very thick and very short. The eyes are burgundy.
- The Kashmeery has a
white body with a very dark orange neck and chest area. The beak is white, thick and
short. The eyes are burgundy with a white round belt. The toenails are white with blue
streaks.
- The Mezarzar Eezazy has a very pale
blue body with dark blue bar markings on the wings and the tip of the tail, blue neck and
chest area with a light red tint. The flights and the tail feathers are blue. This bird
has pearl eyes, a white and short beak and white toenails.
- The Sokkary has a white body with
golden yellow specks in the neck area, a very small head and burgundy eyes.
Dark colored Safis have burgundy or "olive oil" eyes with a white
thin belt around the pupil. The body is covered with blue, red and yellow specks of
different shades and sizes. The beak and toenails are white.
