How to deal with a captured or lost pigeon
After each flying session, the fanciers get together at the nearest coffee shop to discuss birds and talk about the events which happened that day. Often times, the fancier brings along the bird(s) he caught (in nets installed at the Four Corners, on top of the loft) in a small basket and shows it to the other fanciers. At this point, he can choose to give back the bird to his owner, this case is called ( Agreement)
The second option would be to demand a ransom: an amount of money from the birds owner. This case is called (against)
Some Egyptian fanciers dont even bother ask for their lost pigeon to be returned back. They simply conclude that the lost pigeon comes from a poor bloodline and cull every bird related to the one they lost in the competition. A good flyer, they reason, must come back home no matter what! Other fanciers understand their birds so well that they leave food and water (the light is kept on all night) in the cage knowing very well the bird will be back next morning.
When a whole set of birds from the same bloodline is culled (or sold at the birds market), the fancier must replace them with birds he gets from another fancier. In the next article, Ill describe the procedure to follow in order to introduce new bloodlines in ones loft.
